One of Damhead's loyal customers has published a book on her story of tackling a cancer diagnosis:

" If you need further proof of the benefits of diet as a means not only to prevent cancer but also as a way to treat it, "Rabbits Don't Get Lymphoma" is the book for you.

Eleven years ago Cathie Grout was diagnosed with non Hodgkins lymphoma. The proposed treatment, namely chemotherapy and radiotherapy, promised no cure but only the containment of her disease. This was not good enough. She wanted to be free of it, completely. Forever.

Inspired by her reflexologist who lent her a book on vegetable juicing written by Rudolf Breuss many years ago, Cathie decided to change her diet, her job and her life.

Within a year she was free of cancer.

This book shares her story, her diet (many delicious recipes) and her understanding of all that contributed to her getting cancer. It also shows the extraordinary things we are all capable of when we dare to go beyond our fears."

December 2009

An unusual "HOME DELIVERY" this week when the phone rang and we were asked if we could supply fruit and vegetables to the RAINBOW WARRIER , the Greenpeace ship presently docked at Leith on its way to the climate change conference in Copenhagen. We were happy to oblige and it made a nice change for Richard (our driver) from the usual running up tenement stairs!

                                                       FOODIES AT THE FESTIVAL 2009

Last weekend saw us at the Foodies event held this year at Holyrood Park. Although it was a bit (!) wet at times we spoke to many interested and interesting people and signed up lots of new customers to our box scheme and home delivery service. The overriding enthusiasm for buying good food locally is really encouraging.
